Farmers in Myagdi earned about Rs 316 million from Myagdi orange harvest this year. They grew 4,515 tons of oranges on 430 hectares of land.
Each hectare gave about 10.5 tons of fruit. Prices were good at Rs 70 per kg, but the harvest was slightly lower than last year because of the natural orange cycle.
Farmers like Om Giri earned over Rs 1 million. Traders from Beni, Pokhara, Kathmandu, and Mugling now buy oranges directly from the farms.
The government is helping farmers with training, seedlings, irrigation, and marketing through the Prime Minister’s Agricultural Modernization Project.
