US dollar rate in Nepal rises as foreign currencies gain value

Kathmandu — The buying and selling rates of the US dollar increased on Thursday, according to the latest foreign exchange rates released by Nepal Rastra Bank. The move shows growing demand for dollars in the Nepalese market and a rise in the US dollar rate in Nepal.

For today, the buying rate of one US dollar is set at Rs 144.40 and the selling rate at Rs 145.00. These figures are higher than recent days, suggesting the dollar has strengthened against the Nepalese rupee.

Other major foreign currencies also saw increases. The Euro’s buying rate is Rs 170.51 and selling rate is Rs 171.22, while the Pound Sterling is being traded at a buying rate of Rs 197.91 and a selling rate of Rs 198.73.

Asian and Gulf currencies including the Japanese Yen, Chinese Yuan, Saudi Riyal, and Qatari Riyal also recorded higher exchange rates for both buying and selling.

The revised exchange rates will be employed by banks and money changers for foreign exchange business. The increased rates of currencies, including US dollar rate in Nepal, may impact the cost of imports, travel costs, and remittances in the Nepalese economy.
