The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 20.75 points on Tuesday. The NEPSE today closed at 2,642.15 as selling pressure increased across the market.
The market stayed weak for most of the trading day. Total turnover reached Rs 8.36 billion, with more than 20.5 million shares traded.
Most stocks closed lower. 214 companies lost value, while 42 companies gained. Six stocks remained unchanged, showing that sellers were active in the market.
Almost all sector indices ended in the red. The finance sector saw the biggest drop. Hydropower, hotels and tourism, development banks, banking, insurance, manufacturing, microfinance, and investment sectors also closed lower. Only the trading and mutual fund groups posted small gains.
The market performance shows weak investor confidence. Many investors chose to sell rather than buy. Traders are now watching the next sessions to see if the market can stabilise.
