NOC categorises fuel depots into three pricing groups. Group 1 includes Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj. Group 2 includes Surkhet and Dang. Group 3 covers Kathmandu, Pokhara, Dipayal, and other major cities.

The price increase is also expected to raise transport costs for consumers and businesses. Analysts have indicated that the changes are a result of changes in international oil prices, which are reflected in the local fuel prices.
