RSP Leads Election as Vote Count Continues Across Nepal

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has taken a strong lead in the ongoing vote count for Nepal’s House of Representatives election, as RSP leads election results in several constituencies.

According to the latest update released at 5:30 AM on March 8, the party has already won 91 constituencies. RSP candidates are also leading in 34 more constituencies as vote counting continues.

Results from 117 Constituencies

Data from the Election Commission Nepal shows that results from 117 constituencies have been made public so far.

Among the major political parties:

• The Nepali Congress has won 13 constituencies and is leading in three more.
• The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) has won seven constituencies and is leading in four constituencies.
• The Nepali Communist Party has won four constituencies and is leading in three more.

Meanwhile, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and independent candidates have won one constituency each.

In addition, three candidates from the Shram Sanskriti Party are currently leading in vote counting.

Update on Proportional Representation Vote Count

Vote counting for the proportional representation (PR) system is also ongoing. The election was held on March 5.

So far, around 1.9 million votes have been counted as RSP leads election votes in the PR counting as well.

According to the latest data:

• RSP has received about 1.3 million votes.
• Nepali Congress has received 330,728 votes.
• CPN (UML) has received 263,582 votes.
• Nepali Communist Party has received 115,191 votes.

The vote counting process is still underway, and more updates are expected as the Election Commission releases additional results.
