Kathmandu — Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has announced the latest NRB foreign exchange rates for Sunday, setting new buying and selling prices for major foreign currencies against the Nepali rupee.
According to NRB, the US dollar remains strong in the local market. One US dollar is being bought at NPR 144.02 and sold at NPR 144.62. The steady demand for the dollar in global markets continues to influence its value in Nepal.
European currencies are also trading at higher levels. The euro has been fixed at NPR 168.79 for buying and NPR 169.49 for selling, while the British pound sterling stands at NPR 193.51 (buy) and NPR 194.32 (sell). The Swiss franc is priced at NPR 181.53 for buying and NPR 182.29 for selling.
Among other major currencies, the Australian dollar is trading at NPR 96.38 (buy) and NPR 96.78 (sell). The Canadian dollar has been set at NPR 104.95 for buying and NPR 105.39 for selling, while the Singapore dollar is valued at NPR 111.93 (buy) and NPR 112.40 (sell).
Regional currencies have also been updated. The UAE dirham is trading at NPR 39.21 for buying and NPR 39.38 for selling, while the Thai baht has been fixed at NPR 4.58 (buy) and NPR 4.60 (sell). The Indian rupee, which plays a key role in cross-border trade, is set at NPR 160.00 for buying and NPR 160.15 for selling per 100 units.
Nepal Rastra Bank said these NRB foreign exchange rates are referential exchange rates for buying and selling the currency by commercial banks and licensed money changers throughout the country. NRB Foreign Exchange Rates could vary depending on market demand and the movement of international currencies.
Foreign exchange rates directly influence the price of imports, remittances, travel, and business expenses. NRB recommends checking current rates prior to conducting foreign currency transactions.
