Gold Rate reaches an all-time high in Nepal

Kathmandu, Jan 28, 2026: The gold rate in Nepal jumped sharply on Wednesday, reaching a new record high of Rs 318,800 per tola. This rise shows strong demand in the domestic market.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, gold increased by about Rs 9,500 in one day compared with the price on Tuesday. Silver also climbed to Rs 7,300 per tola, up by about Rs 430 in the same period.

Traders say prices are rising mainly because gold and silver are also strong in the global market. The metals are seen as safe-haven assets when there is economic or financial uncertainty. Many buyers are choosing gold and silver to protect their money, which pushes local prices up.

The rise in bullion prices is affecting buyers and jewelers. With high costs, many people are now delaying gold purchases and watching price trends before deciding when to buy.

At Rs 318,800 per tola for gold and Rs 7,300 per tola for silver, these precious metals are now at all-time highs in Nepal’s domestic market. Traders say the gold rate may continue to move up or stay high in the near term, depending on global trends.
