Kathmandu: The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has decided to supply half filled LPG cylinders in the market starting today.
The decision was taken to prevent panic among consumers and ensure that more households can get cooking gas.
According to NOC spokesperson Manoj Kumar Thakur, consumers will now receive cylinders filled with 7.1 kilograms of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) instead of a full cylinder.
The price of the half filled LPG cylinders has been fixed at Rs 955, which is half the price of a regular LPG cylinder.
Thakur said the decision was made because of increasing global demand for gas and supply concerns caused by ongoing international conflicts.
However, NOC has clarified that the import of petroleum products and LPG from Indian Oil Corporation is still normal.
Officials say this step will help reduce panic buying and ensure that cooking gas is available to more consumers across the country.
