Many people in Kathmandu Valley cannot find LPG cooking gas. This gas shortage Nepal is happening even though the Nepal Oil Corporation says supply is enough. Consumers are going from shop to shop with empty cylinders. Many return home without gas.
Students and low-income families are hit the hardest. Some buyers say gas is sold through unofficial channels. This makes it harder to get at normal shops. Dealers in many areas say they have not received enough stock. Some give slips and ask customers to wait.
Gas dealers say winter demand is higher. Gas use rises by about 20–25% in cold months. Transport delays and technical issues have made supply slower. Industry groups and the Nepal Oil Corporation plan talks to improve distribution.
The LPG industry says the problem may ease in a few days. They say new shipments are arriving. Still, many households are struggling right now.
