On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) went down by 9.43 points to close at 2,705.38 as it backed off from the initial gains
Trading activity was slower than Tuesday, with a total Nepse turnover of NPR 8.92 billion from nearly 22 million shares traded.
Most market sectors ended the day in the red. Only the “Others” sector recorded a small increase. Banking, finance, tourism, and other key groups all closed lower.
A total of 174 companies saw their share prices fall, while 82 gained and 3 stayed the same.
Heavy declines weighed down some firms, however, and investor sentiment remained cautious overall.
Analysts have said the drop came as investors booked profit from recent rises, and trading slowed as participants waited for clearer market direction.
